KALANG RIVER – WATER QUALITY

KALANG RIVER – WATER QUALITY Council’s Director of Environmental Health and Planning, Charlie Hannavy, has advised that the Premier’s Working Group on Water Quality had targeted Onsite Sewage Management Systems (OSMS) in the general catchment of the Kalang River from Newry Island westward as a potential source of contamination risk. To that end, Council staff will be carrying out inspections of residential premises in the area in the near future in an effort to isolate any potential pollution source. Council’s Contractor, Bill Fisher will be visiting those premises to discuss potential issues and assess the OSMS systems at each residence.
