Tourism Symposium offers something for all businesses
A cast of leading business experts has been assembled for a jam-packed schedule of practical workshops, panel discussions and keynote presentations at the 2010 Northern Rivers Tourism Symposium in October.
The two-day program will include a number of sessions specifically designed for business operators traditionally considered to be outside the tourism industry, focussing on how you can increase your customer base by tapping into the lucrative holiday market.
“Tourism directly contributes $1.3 billion annually to the Northern Rivers’ regional economy, but it also has a significant impact on industry sectors that supply goods and services to tourism operators,” said Northern Rivers Tourism CEO, Russell Mills.
“There are also natural synergies between the tourism industry and related activities such as artists and art galleries, health and well-being, food producers, restaurants, cafes, retail, real estate, sports, education, environmental agencies and transport, just to name a few.
Using Google Analytics to track the success of online marketing, attracting the visiting friends and relatives market and turning visitors into fans are just some of the sessions relevant to the broader base of business. Author, entrepreneur and former Young Businesswoman of the Year, Amanda Stevens will also be on hand to present practical strategies for marketing specifically to women.
The Northern Rivers Tourism Symposium will be held at Peppers Salt Resort and Spa, Salt Village, Kingscliff on October 18 and 19. Go to ts.e-register.com.au or phone Renae Denny on 0412 642 688 for details of the full program and to register online.

Northern Rivers Tourism is a not-for-profit, member-based association responsible for the sustainable development and promotion of tourism across the Northern Rivers region. Tourism generated nearly $1.3 billion for the Northern Rivers regional economy in the year ended March 2010.
